Matteo Raineri was born in Milan in 1982.
From a very young age he began to approach the piano.
At the age of 6 his father gave him his first electronic keyboard.
At 8 years old, he began studying classical piano, but was immediately diverted, on the teacher's advice, to follow a course with a more modern repertoire (a sort of first step towards his great love: Jazz). Thus, for four years he took lessons with Maestro Girolamo Lanzafame and his daughter Coralba, in Syracuse.
Jazz
In 1997 he met Jazz by chance: love at first sight.
He began his training in Livorno under the guidance of the well-known Jazz pianist Professor Andrea Pellegrini, first as a private individual and immediately afterwards at the Giuseppe Bonamici School of Music in Pisa. Here he comes into contact with the many and very valid possibilities that the school offers, including that of playing in groups (with even better instrumentalists) and, above all, that of being able to propose music of one's own composition.
In the meantime he took part in two music competitions (Gen Gould and Jazz Contest) obtaining two second places. On the occasion of the first concert at the end of the year, Andrea Pellegrini presents him as “...a very young promise of Italian Jazz”.
Matteo Rainieri Group
In 2002 he formed the Matteo Rainieri Group, fulfilling an ancient dream.
He is joined by Francesco Coppedè and Matteo Bernini, who were then joined by guitarist Francesco Catalucci in 2005.
In 2004 he played with professionals such as Nino Pellegrini, Filippo Todaro, Stefano Franceschini.
In 2006 he performed with the Matteo Rainieri Group at the European Music Festival in the city of Lucca, obtaining much acclaim. The experience will be repeated in the years 2007-2008 and in 2009 with the Matteo Rainieri Trio (with Giulio Boschi on double bass and Matteo Bernini on drums).
First album: Personal World (2007)
In 2007 he recorded his first album, entitled Personal World, with original songs.
In 2009 he followed a seminar held by Paul McCandless at the Giuseppe Bonamici School of Music, from which he received compliments for the songs contained in the album "Personal World". Compliments that join those received by Javier Girotto for the song "Where Are You From?" which contains a tango part.
Jazz Festivals
In 2011 he participated in the Pozzuoli Jazz Festival in duo with Francesco Catalucci, opening the concert for Antonello Salis, finally playing with the Maestro at the end of the event. The performance, totally improvised, was welcomed by the public with great interest and appreciation. The experience of the Jazz Festival is repeated in 2012 and 2013, when the duo opens the concert for the great singer Roberta Gambarini and the trumpeter Roy Hargrove.
Second album: Heavens (2012)
Recorded in July 2012, the ambitious project involves nine musicians describing "an imaginary journey beyond the sky".
He dedicates a lot of time to composition and experimentation, mainly using both the piano and the guitar.
The third album is in preparation.
