MATTEO RAINIERI GROUP
The project was born in 2002 within the Jazz Music Department of the Giuseppe Bonamici School of Music in Pisa, where Matteo Rainieri and Francesco Coppedè met.
After an intense, but brief, passage of the drummer-guitarist Andrea Lanini, from the same year the discussion continues free from the aegis of the music school up to the present day with Matteo Bernini on drums.
In 2005, guitarist Francesco Catalucci joined the trio, bringing a four-piece band whose "mission" is that of musical experimentation.
RAINIERI - COPPEDE': EXPANDED DUO
"This duo represents my longest musical collaboration. With Francesco Coppedè, who is also one of my dearest friends, we have been playing together since 2001, when we were both students at the Giuseppe Bonamici School of Music in Pisa. In this project the focus is experiment with the classic nature of the acoustic duet, bringing it towards expansions of sound, making use of both the piano and the guitar in a comparative way" (M.R.)
The duo offers a repertoire of original songs with a modern and at times avant-garde sound, balanced by jazz standards interpreted in the most classic spirit. "There is no innovation and development without a base to start from." (M.R.)
RAINIERI - CATALUCCI (Piano - 7 strings guitar)
Matteo Rainieri and Francesco Catalucci began collaborating together in 2006 within the Matteo Rainieri Group.
The duo also performed at the 2011, 2012 and 2013 editions of the Pozzuoli Jazz Festival, opening concerts for Antonello Salis, Roberta Gambarini and Roy Hargrove.
What emerges from this formation is the harmonious and unusual combination of the guitarist's blues roots and classical knowledge with the pianist's musical landscape which ranges from world music, to fusion, to the most classic jazz.
The musical project will soon also be released on disc with original songs and revisited standards.
RAINIERI - BUCCHIONI (Piano - Drums)
In 2010 the two musicians met at a jam session and from that moment a collaboration began characterized by immediate incredible freshness and a fluid interplay.
The Latin-Cuban nature of the drummer and the melodic phrasing of the pianist find a perfect union in the performance of standards and originals between brushstrokes of pure musical energy.
"It's one of those formations that I call Plug&Play!!" (M. Rainieri).
RAINIERI - CERESA (Piano/Guitar - Double bass)
Project with an acoustic feel, but with notes whose colors are able to detach themselves from the typical intimate and chamber mood.
The "chromatic range" of the repertoire is wide and ranges up to sound and form experiments.
